This Changes How Off Grid Builders Plan Everything
If you’ve ever stared at your power station and wondered, “Can I run all this gear—and for how long?”… you’re not alone. I’ve been there more times than I can count. Whether it’s trying to keep a fridge running overnight, squeezing in a quick coffee in the morning, or making sure a heater doesn’t drain everything before sunrise—off-grid power is always a balancing act.
That’s exactly why I built EZ Watts.

I didn’t set out to create an app at first. I was just trying to solve a problem I kept running into during my own van life setup. Every time I added a new device or changed how long I used something, I had to mentally juggle watts, hours, and battery capacity. And honestly? It got old fast. I wanted a simple way to know, not guess.
So I created a tool that does exactly that.
From Guesswork to Real Answers
With EZ Watts, the process is simple. I select my power station—whether it’s something from a major brand or a custom setup—and then I add the devices I plan to use. Maybe it’s a 12V fridge running all day, a USB fan for a few hours, and a kettle for a quick boil. Then I set my battery level to match what I actually have at that moment.
From there, the app does the heavy lifting.
It instantly shows me how much battery I’ll have left after everything runs. And the best part? It updates in real time. If I turn something off, I see my battery percentage go up. If I extend usage time, I see it drop. It’s interactive, dynamic, and incredibly helpful when I’m trying to make decisions on the fly.
No more guessing. No more hoping I’ll wake up with power left. Just clear, immediate answers.
Built for Real Life Off-Grid
One thing I’m especially proud of is that this app wasn’t built in a vacuum. I didn’t sit behind a desk imagining what people might need—I built it based on real-world use. Long road trips. Off-grid camping. Power outages. All the situations where knowing your energy limits actually matters.
And I built it for people like me—and probably like you.
Van lifers. Campers. Overlanders. Anyone relying on portable power and trying to make it last.
More Than Just a Calculator
Once I had the core calculator working, I realized something: people don’t just need runtime estimates. They need help planning their entire power system.
So I added more tools.
Now, EZ Watts can help you figure out how much solar you need based on your daily usage. It can recommend the right battery capacity if you’re starting from scratch. It even includes wire gauge calculators and electrical conversion tools—stuff that can get confusing (and dangerous) if you don’t get it right.
And don’t worry—if you’re not an electrical expert, you don’t have to be. The app includes helpful explanations throughout, so you understand what’s happening without needing a background in engineering.
No App Store Required
One of the things that makes EZ Watts a little different is how you install it. It’s a Progressive Web App, which means you don’t download it from the App Store or Google Play. Instead, you go directly to the website and install it from there.
Same functionality. Same experience. Just without the middleman.
I did this to keep things simple and accessible. You can be up and running in seconds, and you’ll always have the latest version without needing updates.
Why This Matters
At the end of the day, off-grid power isn’t just about convenience—it’s about reliability. Nobody wants to wake up in the middle of the night to a dead battery. Nobody wants to damage their equipment or waste money because they miscalculated their usage.
That’s what EZ Watts helps prevent.
It gives you confidence. It helps you plan ahead. And it puts control back in your hands.
Built by One Person—for a Community
This might be the part I’m most excited about: I built this app myself. Not a big team. Not a company with a huge budget. Just me, solving a problem I cared about.
And now I get to share it with a community that understands exactly why it matters. If you’re living off-grid, traveling, or just trying to better understand your power setup, I think you’ll find this tool incredibly useful.
Give it a try, see how it works for your setup, and let me know what you think. I’m always looking to improve it—and your feedback helps shape what comes next.
Because at the end of the day, this isn’t just an app. It’s a better way to manage your power.
